Mediterranean Magic

The brief was to design a garden which would connect the client’s farmhouse with a modern extension which housed an indoor swimming pool. As the design of the latter had Italianate overtones, we came up with a design for a formal garden which combined Englishness (yew hedging, topiary, lavendar) with Mediterranean border planting (cistus, perovskia, verbena and euphorbia). The west-facing garden glows in the evening light, best viewed from the raised terrace, from under a vine-clad pergola with a glass of wine in hand!
